The 24 Day Diet Update

Keeping to a strict diet this past week has been extremely difficult for me in regards to eating on time. I just started back at my day job on the military base so it will take me some time to adjust into a routine schedule. My diet will need to be worked around the hours I am not on the floor teaching fitness classes, on the pool deck, with personal training clients and running fitness tests. I will also have to change what I have been eating as I will no longer have the time to be cooking each meal. I will have to stay adamant on planning my meals, cooking and packing them in Tupperware to take with me each day. Change is difficult for us at times and it will most certainly affect our diets.

Most important thing is to stay positive and try to be as healthy as you can be while adjusting to changes. In these situations of change in the past, I would often go through a phase of not eating for long periods of time and then overeating in the evening. In the past, this had never drastically affected my weight but it still is not healthy for the metabolism. Now that I’m getting older and struggling with medical conditions, it is even more important for me to eat more frequently.

My training routine in the gym has not been an issue for me. I live to train. I’ve really stepped up the intensity and I’m noticing great strength results. My focus has also been on fixing a muscle imbalance I have been struggling with for some time now. Genetically my gluteus medius have difficulty gaining size as well as late firing a contraction. Previously I have been doing minor band work and body weight squats with the band and utilizing every single leg and glute med isolation exercise out there to try and correct this weakness however, I haven’t been seeing great results. This week I decided to use a heaver elastic band around my thighs and complete most of my heavy leg workout using these bands. I noticed that my glute meds had no choice but to fire in my squats as they had to contract in order to keep my legs apart. With anything, it takes consistency and time to see if a new method works. I am hopeful.

As I struggle on my diet, Whitney is doing amazing! She is sticking to her diet plan perfectly and she is looking great.  She will be doing a weigh in this Saturday and I can’t wait to see her results! Goooo Whitney!

Next week I will be doing a weigh in as well as my fitness retest and photos to see how close I am to reaching my goals. I will also be doing my EXPRES test which is a fitness test that is mandatory for the fitness staff to reach the incentive exempt levels in order to keep our positions as Fitness and Sports Instructors for the military.  Wish me luck!
